Professional Mentorship--Mr. Brett EckertMr. Brett Eckert, an 8th Grade Social Studies teacher at St. Mary's Academy, was my professional mentor, teaching primarily United States History and Government. Besides my ELA experience, I also had the opportunity to complete my practicum with Mr. Eckert, which was an extra blessing. Under his careful mentoring, I dove deep into the inner-workings of a school by sitting in on an all-school faculty meeting, a 7th grade teaming meeting, and a school accreditation meeting. These observations, in conjunction with my time in his classroom, showed me both sides of the world of education, the teaching side and the administrative side. Furthering the latter was my great privilege of being able to sit in on a principal's meeting, which was tremendously enlightening. I am very grateful for the hours of conversation shared with Mr. Eckert, as his wisdom and experience has helped shape both my personal and professional goals.

Faculty Mentorship--Dr. Carmelita LambDuring my experiences with Dr. Lamb, who serves as the Associate Dean of the Liffrig School, I was able to witness not only the inner workings of University Administration, but also some of the unique opportunities offered to her. Besides meeting multiple times throughout the semester to simply have great conversation, Dr. Lamb allowed me to shadow her at an administrative meeting and a doctoral admissions interview, both of which enlightened me as to the intricacies of work at the university level. Furthermore, Dr. Lamb brought me to one of her monthly Catholic Fellows meetings, which was a wonderful opportunity to witness how education truly is a life-long journey. Finally, Dr. Lamb and I read a leadership book, Millenials Matter, and met to discuss our thoughts over coffee, talking about my personal and professional goals.
