In a world full of collaborative leadership and a dominant global economy, connecting with others in meaningful ways is of the utmost importance for any leader. I believe that chief among the ways in which to connect with others is the practice of active listening: a firm handshake, ears open, strong eye contact, and genuine interest in others is the only way to truly establish a positive impression and connection. Furthermore, authentic connections with others rests only on the ability of a leader to take a personal investment in the other's life, their interests, opinions, thoughts and feelings. I believe I excel at connecting with others. My constant willingness to be present to those around me, strike up positive conversation, and Benedictine respect for that person allow me to build wonderful relationships, both personally and professionally. However, this is not to say that I am without obstacles in my quest to be a leader who is able to connect with others, as I occasionally struggle to make time for certain relationships in the business of life. Regardless, my personal and professional relationships demonstrate my ability to connect deeply with others.
